The DC Portal Distributable provides wizard for automatic installation. You have to run the executable file provided by Argo Computing Services to start the installation.

You need to accept licence agreement in order to install the DC Portal. If you do not, you must not proceed.

After installation is completed the wizard will prompt you to configure the portal. Refer to Before Installation section to see what you need to know at this stage.

You can skip the database preparation step by ticking appropriate check box. This sometimes may be needed if you already have a DC Portal database and do not want to modify it.

During the installation you will have to either request a new license (providing your details) or use the one already generated for you by Argo Computing Services.

After the installation has been finished, you can point your browser to the appropriate URL configured during the process.

Manual Installation

If for any reason the installer is not able to prepare the database, then following steps can be taken:

  • On the configuration screen select “Skip database preparation” checkbox so that installer does not attempt to do anything with the database and finish without rolling back.
  • Backup the database if one exists.
  • Execute the SQL script manually from the Program Files folders in Argo Computing Services\DCPortal\sql\all.sql
  • Execute from the command line the database preparation script that will populate initial data for the DC Portal:
    • Open command line.
    • Change directory to $ProgramFiles$\Argo Computing Services\DCPortal\WinApp
    • Run the following command substituting with correct paramters:
      Argo.DCPortal.WinGUI.exe -i "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ArgoDCPortal\Install.config" -prepare 1 -bo 1 -c "user id=dcportal_owner;data source=.;initial catalog=DCPortal;password=dcp_00"

After all the installation steps are performed the site should be available for usage. It has one user created who is a Back-Office for the site.

The main role of a Back-Office user is to publish surveys created by Form Managers.

You have to register Form Manager(s) to create surveys and publish the surveys as Back-Office user.

You can register as many Survey Manager Users as your license allows.

By default SSL is enforced for the DC Portal, but if you do not have SSL certificate installed on the IIS you can disable it by setting DisableSSL option of PortalConfig XML node (web.config file) to true. Some of pages will still generate secure links, so in this case a user will have to replace the URL in the browser from https://... To http://...

If you do not agree with and accept End-User License Agreement you have no permission to use DC Portal in any way.

The DC Portal periodically checks license key at our Licensing Service. It is hosted on the ls.argocomputing.com.au domain. This means that DC Portal should be able to connect to our service to check the license. Thus you have to manage your network to allow it.

Argo Computing Services may analyse how often your installation of DC Portal checks the license and if it is less then required, apply sanctions.

If your license key is invalid, expired, the DC Portal will stop working.
