OCR allows its users to process a set of scanned paper based surveys, and generate a structured result file with one row per survey / form. It is very useful in those situations where data cannot be collected electronically from the Respondents. For example the audience does not have access to a computer or there are other constraints preventing electronic data collection.
Once the blank paper surveys / forms are printed and distributed amongst the Respondents, they complete the questionnaires and return to the publisher.
At this stage the publisher has two ways to go forward:
- Manually process the results provided page by page and saving into electronic format
- Send the completed papers to a scanning agency for processing
The first option is slow and laborious. The second option is expensive and not flexible.
The Argo – OCR gives you a the third option:
- Cost effective
- Flexible
- Productive
When the publisher gets all the completed surveys / forms, they simply scan them into electronic images and process using the Argo – OCR. The results are available in a structured electronic format for further use.
